Over the past semester, three of our staff and board members have been active in their academic journeys hoping to contribute new skills and knowledge to the organization. Here are some of the things they’re most excited to bring from the classroom to KWEC:

Christinah Hambira, Founder – Clinton School of Public Service, Master of Public Service

For my capstone, I’m working with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Arkansas to develop a speaker series to empower marginalized youth to express themselves, showcase their talents, and contribute to decision-making discussions that impact their communities. This is one of the programs that I want to carry out for KWEC when I get back to Tsabong. Besides the capstone, I’ve enjoyed the Professional Communications class where I’ve learnt leadership language and general team communication. I’ll be training the team on leadership language in order to have result-oriented and innovative team that is actively engaged.

Grace Clinton, Director of Programming – University of Cambridge, MPhil in Health, Medicine, and Society

My course work analysing effective health interventions that best serve a diverse group of individuals helps me improve public health interventions with KWEC. Additionally, my research with victims of gender-based violence is helping to better craft community interventions to aid in holistic healing.

Over the last semester, I did an independent study in statistical learning. KWEC has hosted academic researchers over the past few years, and I hope my quantitative skills can benefit their projects in our efforts to curb gender-based violence.
