Research: Postpartum Needs Assessment

Grace Clinton, an American student from the University of Notre Dame, partnered with KWEC to conduct field research for her thesis: Postpartum Care and Educations of Young Mothers in Kgalagadi, Botswana. For ten weeks (May to July of 2023), Grace lived in community with members of KWEC and teen mothers while conducting interviews and participant observation of teen mother support meetings. The results of this research will be further used to write and establish a curriculum for a year-long Focused Postpartum Care Support group for new mothers. It will include health and socioemotional learning, aiming to improve health outcomes for young mothers in Botswana.
